Pawhuska: P-Town Pizza and Tallgrass Prairie Preserve

Shopping, Eating and Sightseeing

Let's start with P⠂Town Pizza, recently opened by the Pioneer Woman. It was Ah-Ma-Zing. The "Not Knots" were like manna from heaven and Ladd's Chopped Wedge had our kind of toppings: bacon and cheddar

The pizza's are wood-fired with a perfect crust that was bubbling and flavorful without being greasy.
Mushrooms are not my thing, but my friend said the the Fun-Gi Pizza was on point.

And then this one, the Pizza-Ree-A gets its namesake from the Pioneer Woman. I get it. If I could make a pizza this good, I would name it after myself. The balance of tomatoes and cheese was perfect- like really perfect.

Next up, our tips on the

Tallgrass Prairie Preserve

To get to the prairie preserve, you head north on Kihekah Ave and you'll pass under the archway (which is a subtle hint you're headed in the right direction ðŸ˜‰). It turns into Grandview Ave and Co Rd 4201, but its all the same road, so basically just keep going, and in 15-20ish miles, you'll reach the entrance. We made it just in time for a glamour shots session of selfies in the sunset. The buffalo roam free in the prairie, and as a guest in their home, visitors should stick to the roads, stick to your car and avoid disturbing any of the wildlife.

On our last day, we decided to take the long way home, and drive the entirety of the preserve from Pawhuska to ... wherever it finally ended in Kansas ðŸ˜€ and it was a beautiful afternoon.  Check out the Nature Conservancy for information on the visitor center and hiking trails
